Eleanor J. Chestnut age 73, of Town Bank, North Cape May, NJ. Formally of SW Philadelphia. passed away December 19, 2023. Proud graduate of West Catholic Girls and Presbyterian School of Nursing. Eleanor enjoyed her time working as a nurse for several different nursing facilities, Frankford Torresdale Hospital, Chop Kids First, and Rainbow Pediatrics. A member of the Elks Lodge #2839, Stella Maris Home Association, where she loved to play shuffleboard. Eleanor loved Irish step dancing, singing in the choir of St. John of God Church, a very faithful lady. An avid Philadelphia, sports fan of the Phillies, 76ers, Eagles, and Flyers.
She married her high school sweetheart and the two of them were inseparable. Their home was open to all, from their time in SW Philly to when she coached the WC Girls Cheerleading, hosting WC Football breakfasts, Good Shepard Perish youth sports. Playing Mr. & Mrs. Claus. Volunteering for veteran’s Memorial Day, 4th of July, volunteering at the Coast Guard Base in Cape May. They had friends where every they went. They loved traveling, Dancing, watching sporting events.
She was very proud to be called “NANA”, not only by her precious grandchildren but by all!
Eleanor is predeceased by her late husband, Thomas, her late son Joseph, and Mother Nancy Di Orio.
Eleanor fought a courageous battle with ALS. We are comforted knowing that she is now with her loving Tom and their son Joey!
Survived by sons: Thomas Chestnut and Scott (Jennifer) Chestnut. 6 grandchildren: T.J., Lauren, Victoria, Daniel, Aiden, and Lainey. Brothers: Richard (Nancy) Hogg, David (Ava) Hogg and Sister Nancy (James) Palmer. Her faithful companion Miller! Many nieces and nephews, Neighbors of Beverly Road, and too many friends to name! Sorority sisters!
Relatives and friends may attend a visitation Saturday, January 20, 2024, 9:00 – 10:15AM Saint Gabriel Parish, 233 Mohawk Ave., Norwood, PA 19074, with Funeral mass to follow at 10:30 AM. Inurnment at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
