William Shaub Beck William Shaub Beck, 84, of Ardmore, PA and Spring Lake, NJ, died July 7th after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. He was a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania class of ’58 and a faithful fan of Penn basketball. Upon his graduation, he fulfilled his NROTC commission in the Navy including a voyage to Antarctica. Following his discharge, he joined the fledgling computer industry, working first at RCA, and then at GE and Honeywell. Bill was predeceased by his father, Albert F. Beck M.D.; his mother, Della Shaub Beck; his half-sister, Edith Beck Wilson; and his half-brother, Albert F. Beck. He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Robin Heffernan Beck. Bill had an ease with people. He formed many life-long friendships, including with his Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity brothers at Penn and with his fellow football players and classmates from John Bartram High School. He was not just “related” by marriage to Robin’s family of siblings, nephew and cousins but became a beloved member of her family. His many loved ones, family and friends, will hold dear their memories of Bill’s humor, generosity, and gentlemanly good grace. A Memorial Service will be held at Kish Funeral Home, Broomall, PA at 1:00pm on July 23rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Penn Fund, University of Pennsylvania Philadelphia, Pa. 19104 (https://giving.upenn.edu) or to the Robin Heffernan Beck Endowed Scholarship, Seton Hill University, 1 Seton Hill Drive, Greensburg, PA 15601 (www.setonhill.edu).
