Emmett Stephen Mongelluzzo (August 3, 1921 – January 6, 2017) Emmett S. Mongelluzzo, age 95, ended his journey on Earth on Friday January 6, 2017 after a brief illness. Born in Vanderbilt, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph & Marietta Mongelluzzo. He is survived by his daughter Barbara McNulty (Robert), grandchildren Robert McNulty III (Theresa), Denise Kennard, the late Michael McNulty (Kathy), Kevin McNulty; great grandchildren Michelle, Edward & Matthew Kennard, Monica, Kristi, Brian & Michael McNulty Jr; great-great grandchildren Breana, Keira & Dominick Kennard. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Ann (nee Hozinec) in 1995, his four sisters and six brothers. Emmett was fiercely independent and self-sufficient, living on his own and driving up to the very end. He was a very proud World War II and Korean War veteran, having served in the U. S. Navy as a Machinist’s Mate 3rd Class. He regaled audiences with stories about his time spent in the South Pacific during WW II while on the U.S.S Napa. He worked in construction for many years with various firms, including the Venzie Corporation. In his free time, he enjoyed volunteering at Christy’s Auto Repairs in Southwest Philadelphia, spending time with family, and bowling, having been an avid and accomplished bowler in his younger years. He was a member of St. Dorothy’s Church. He was a talented craftsman who completely built his home and who readily offered to help family members and friends with their projects. The viewing and mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 at St. Dorothy’s Catholic Church, Drexel Hill, PA. The viewing starts at 9:00, with the mass following at 11:00 AM. The burial will follow at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Marple Township, Delaware County.
